Chiropractic or Physiotherapy? Who should you see?
If only I had a dollar for the number of times I have been asked this question.
To understand the answer to this question let’s dive into the benefits of each profession.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic focuses on the function of your spine and its effect on your nervous system. When your spine does not move as designed, it can affect the messages of the nervous system. This can create symptoms varying from, headaches, neck pain, back pain, sciatica, altered sensations (hot, cold, numbness or pins and needles, ), disc problems, postural distortions, or the effects of sympathetic dominance.

What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation and injury prevention. They may employ techniques such as massages, heat therapy, exercises, electrotherapy, patient education, and advice for treating an injury, ailment, or deformity.
Sometimes techniques can look similar between the two professions. But the aim of treatment is different. Chiropractic aims to improve the communication of the nervous system, and Physiotherapy aims to improve joint function. Neither is wrong and both have benefits.
Often times the cases are complicated and people need to be assessed on an individual basis to determine the best course of care. That is why I have a free 15-minute discovery call. This gives me an opportunity to ask you some questions to determine if chiropractic would be suitable for you. If it is we can then book in for an initial consultation. If chiropractic care does not appear to be the best course of action I can then refer you to the right practitioner for you.
