Shoulder pain is a common issue in today’s society. But you don’t have to suffer. Treatments are available. A chiropractor could be the best solution for you.

Possible Causes of Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain can be caused by a number of reasons. Some of these include:
- Slouching posture
- Forward head postures
- Inflammed bursae
- Osteoarthritis
- Traumatic injuries or falls
- Nerve pain (pinched nerve in the neck)
- Upper back and/or neck dysfunction
- Referred pain from the gall bladder, heart, or lungs
Some common symptoms you may experience with Shoulder Problems include:
- Pain in the shoulder joint (deep in the joint or down the front of the shoulder)
- Pain in neck and upper back
- Pain down the arm
- Pins and needles into the arm and fingers
- Restriction of shoulder movements
- Loss of movement of the arm (frozen shoulder)
- Weakness in the shoulder or arm
- Feeling like the shoulder will pop out (dislocate)
Diagnosis and Treatment of Shoulder Problems
In order to diagnose your shoulder problem some tests need to be done to assess mobility, posture, muscle function, nerve function and joint function. On occasions, further scans may be required for a complete diagnosis. (Ultrasound for bursae involvement or x-ray for osteoarthritis)
Once a diagnosis is formed the correct treatment plan can be made. Initially, this will involve reducing the pain and inflammation. This is often achieved with muscle soft tissue work and correction of any joint dysfunction with chiropractic adjustments. At home, ice can be used to help reduce the pain further. Once the pain is reduced then strengthening the shoulder and posture correction should be performed. This will include an exercise regimen and posture correction work.
