Anthea Holder – Chiropractor, Burwood East

As the Christmas season arrives, many of us find ourselves juggling social events, family gatherings, late nights, and plenty of rich food and drinks. It’s a wonderful time of year — but it can also leave your body feeling tired, bloated, or inflamed.
Here are a few simple, realistic ways to enjoy the season while still feeling great in your body:
1. Hydrate Between Drinks
Christmas in Australia is hot, busy, and full of bubbles — all of which can leave you dehydrated. A simple habit is to alternate each alcoholic drink with a glass of water to keep your energy and digestion steady.
2. Keep Your Body Moving
A gentle 20–30 minute walk after meals supports digestion, reduces inflammation, and helps your nervous system shift out of “stress mode.”
3. Add Fresh, Colourful Veggies to Every Plate
Balancing richer foods with fibre and antioxidants keeps you feeling lighter and more energised.
4. Take a Moment to Breathe
Five slow breaths before you rush out the door can make a huge difference to your stress levels — and prevent the neck and shoulder tension many people feel this time of year.
